A strong brand image is a must in todays competitive business world. Companies have to look at ways to connect emotionally with customers and create lifelong relationships. People fall in love with companies and consumers keep returning to a business they can trust. Creating a brand image gives you an identity and a face in the corporate world. Businesses grow and people change but having a strong brand image allows this and consumers identify with your brand as opposed to you. But where do I begin? Getting a logo is a good start, one which you can really build on, however you need to go further if you want to convince people you are the person to work with long term. A properly branded business puts its identity across at every opportunity and instills it’s vision in the image.

Who wore it best?

Now I am sure everyone can relate to the brand images below, recognisable correct? Fashion is an amazing example of how powerful a brand image can be. It should be encompassed in every aspect of your work and pay homage to your business. Do we need a fancy logo for us to tell a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes from their competition? The iconic red bottom have been one of the most sort-after fashion items for anyones closet and this is not only for their signature style but people want to wear those bloody shoes (cheers Nicky). Where branding comes into things however is a bit different; what Louboutin has done is to run with the red theme, incorporating it into logos, clothing, images, sofas, business cards, you name it they have it. This isn’t an accident and when you see red down that runway that is who you think. Business is exactly the same and branding is a key way in which you use your identity to stick in peoples mind.

Brand Guidelines

Every company, big or small needs to have brand guidelines. It gives your company clear identity and shows you care about public perception. It is a way your business big or small can highlight a semblance of you. Take Orphical Marketing for example… my name is Owen Ruscombe Pugsley, ORP. Orphical is a nod to Orpheus from greek mythology, hence the Lyre. The smile, well that is because I am a happy person and who doesn’t want to work with a happy face. If you can produce a clear brand guidelines it will work with your brand and you will begin to see unity between everything you create. Social media posts will look like the event artworks you produce. Office colour schemes and layouts will begin to take the same of grand dinners. Business cards, letterhead, e-mail signatures, they aren’t only there to look pretty, they are there to make you stand out from the crowd.
